Boulevard Baptist Church: High School

On June 15, 9 students and 6 sponsors from Boulevard Baptist Church from Anderson, South Carolina arrived in Bucharest ready to spend a week working with Project Ruth and the kids of Ferentari (neighborhood where we work). Leading the group was Ellen Sechrest, minister to students and missions at Boulevard. She is also a longtime partner with Project Ruth as she is the USA child sponsorship coordinator and on the board. Wes and I worked alongside them and really enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them. It was a tiring but rewarding week. Most of the week was spent at the Ruth School where they held a daily Bible Club. Between all the team members kids learned new songs, made crafts, listened to Bible stories and took part in recreation (some outside, some inside). One day the group took some of the kids on an excursion out of the city. There they got to see more of Romania, an orthodox church and monastery and visit a cave. When they weren't spending their time with the kids, they were back at the Ruth Center resting (sort of). Many nights were spent playing various card games. They even included us and taught us a few new games. This group emotionally and physically gave of themselves this week and Project Ruth is so thankful for them.
