Leaving Space for the Divine

In April when our church was visiting we were introduced to a site called Inward/Outward. At this site you can sign up for daily quotes to be sent to your email inbox. We signed up and have enjoyed many quotes that have come through. But every so often there is one that is really powerful. I am sure different quotes speak to each individual differently. With that in mind, I wanted to share with you today's quote.

Leaving Space for the Divine
by Bell Hooks

Prayer is my refuge and my sanctuary. To talk with god is to return to a place in the heart where one is understood fully and deeply. To seek a place to pray is to find the place of stillness. Everyone leads such a life of busyness that stillness is always lacking. No wonder then that prayer has no place. It is this need for a solitary place that enables me to leave spaces in my life open, to not overbook myself. Life is not something that should be always scheduled. And what calendar can contain one's relationship to the divine?

How true this is in this day and age of busyness.
