Update on Croatia

So, almost 3 weeks ago we left for a vacation with our Romanian Baptist Church to Croatia. We all (49 people) piled into a charter bus and made the 30 hour journey to Croatia. We arrived to a small, peaceful village in the mountains. The scenery was picturesque and the climate was a relief from the 90 degree weather we left in Bucharest. The basic framework of our trip was to spend the evenings at the camp-site and then each day make a trip to somewhere beautiful in Croatia. Day 1 and Day 2 we went to the seaside and enjoyed the sun. Day 3 we went to a national park with the most beautiful natural lakes and waterfalls. Day 4 was back to the seaside for more sun. Day 5 was spent in the capital city of Zagreb. We finally arrive to Day 6, our departure day. The plan was to leave Croatia and make our way to Romania via Hungary. We stopped in Budapest for a few hours. While there we did some sightseeing and ended the day with a dinner cruise on the Danube. We left at 9pm and drove the entire night to arrive in Bucharest the next afternoon.

Time at the camp was restful and nutritioning to the soul. Nearby was a river that bordered Croatia and Slovenia. We took a nice afternoon walk down to the river and through the woods on our first day there. Each evening we met for dinner and then immediatly followed was a worship time. We sang songs, prayed and listened to a message. Wes was able to preach 2 times. In the midst of the resting and vacationing, our secondary purpose was to deepen relationships with the church members. Many of these people were on the trip to Greece with us last year. That was very different trip altogether and especially on the interaction side of things. We were just getting to know most of them and spent a lot time becoming familiar. Now, one year later and 2 years spent in Romania these people had become like family. Knowing this is probably our last trip with them, we took every opportunity to visit and fellowship. It was wonderful beyond words!
