No Place Like Home

You know those places where you just feel at home? Things are familiar and comfortable. Sometimes you don't even realize how much you miss those places until you find yourself back there. Then here you are back to what you have missed, longed for and moments you hold close and will never forget.

For most of the summer we have been traveling to see family and friends and been in training. Each Sunday we had the privilege of worshipping with different congregations. We enjoyed each of these moments and the new friends we were able to make. We will hold each of these places close to us. But something was different last Sunday. Last Sunday we were going to our home church in Waco, DaySpring Baptist Church. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with hugs and warm welcomes from friends. It was so good to be back to a place we missed very much.

During the service we were able to share with them what we were going to be doing in Romania and invited them to share in this experience with us. Then they took a moment to pray a prayer of blessing on us which meant so much.

At the end of the service we stood at the front and were able to look into all the faces of the people that had touched our lives. As we closed we sang a familiar benediction that we had sung so many times before, but this time for some reason was much more meaningful. Maybe it was how we applied the words or maybe because we knew we would not be in this place for a while.

DaySpring: you will be in our thoughts and prayers and we thank you for this journey we have been on together and look forward to how God is going to use you.

May the Lord, Mighty Lord, bless and keep you forever;
Granting peace, perfect peace, courage in every endeavor.
Lift your eyes and see His face, know His grace forever.
May the Lord, Mighty Lord, bless and keep you forever
.

I'm sad to know that your last Sunday was last week. Mine is tomorrow. I was in Houston accepting a student minister job and speaking in front of that congregation. I'm sorry I didn't get to say good-bye, though.

Glad the blog thing is working so far. At least this way I can keep up with you two.

May God bless His work in and through you.
