In and Out of a Routine

For most people today means the end of a holiday and back to work/school. Like us, we too are ending a long 2 week holiday. Not much happened over our Christmas break (which is why you didn't have any new posts to read from us). We spent a lot of time resting, reading and catching up on TV programs.

We had a nice Christmas day in Bucharest. We started the day by attending the morning church service and then we were invited to a colleague's (and church member) home. She is an excellent cook and we enjoyed an array of all the best Romanian cuisines (sarmale, mamaliga, ciorba, salata de beouf and much more). The evening was very quiet and calm. This seemed to be the theme of our holiday.

A week later and we were ready for New Year's Eve. Two friends (to us and Project Ruth) arrived in Bucharest after spending the week in Craiova. The arrived in time to bring in the new year. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Andy & Claudia, watched Romanian musicians on the TV and then toasted at midnight while listening the rush of fireworks outside our window.

With more days of rest behind us, we woke last Thursday morning with blankets and blankets of snow on the ground. This was the first big snowfall in Bucharest sinced we arrived last year. We were thrilled! Coming from Texas we were hoping for a White Christmas. We finally got it (a week later, but we got it).

So, with Christmas vacation officially over, we are back in the office today and getting back into a routine. School has also started for the Ruth School and this week Gypsy Smith School is in session. We are thankful for the rest we were able to have, but it sure is good to be back at work, busy with things to do.
