Last Saturday we celebrated Wes' 30th birthday. Well, it is more like I celebrated as Wes groaned at the fact that he no longer is in his twenties. I guess it is the acknowledgment that he will not be young again. Of course I argued every point he tried to make because I am excited about being 30. Enough on me, this was Wes' day.
We actually started celebrating on Monday with a nice dinner at Caru cu Bere (his favorite restaurant) and most of our closest friends. Also celebrating a birthday was Sorin (associate pastor). We did a joint dinner and had a wonderful time. The only thing missing was Alex (co-worker) who was celebrating his birthday in the country-side.

Then on Friday we continued the celebration, this time just Wes and me. We went to dinner and a movie. Dinner was a nice little German brewery and the movie was Benjamin Button. Oh and between the two we went to Starbucks for an american-style chocolate cake. As you know, the best present for Wes is food or to spend the evening focused on food. He is such a connoisseur.

The BIG DAY! Saturday! I was feeling exceptionally excited for Wes and his turning 30 so I began the day with pancakes (some regular, some chocolate chip). And I did something I never do and that was serve him breakfast in bed. Being 30 calls for special perks. The proudest thing for me was the homemade pie I made from scratch. I had tried this once in the States and decided to attempt again for his birthday. It turned out great and he loved it! The downside to the day was that he and Alex had to take the night train to Western Romania for a GSS course. So, our day together was cut short. Even though the day was short, it was FULL. Full of fun, love and birthday wishes.

Congratulations, Wes, for reaching 'old man' status... You really don't look that old. :)
Susan, I want a homemade apple pie for my birthday!
