No Need to Worry Martha Stewart

For months and months I have been saying that I want to learn how to cook. Most people will tell me it just takes practice. So that is what I have been doing lately, practicing. But this time I decided to step it up a notch and make lasagna...from scratch. What was I thinking? Well I will tell you what I was thinking: I am off from work and have plenty of time, a got a great recipe from Alina (our tutor and friend from church), and I might as well aim high.

After 2 1/2 hours of cooking it was finally finished. Of course some things went wrong and Wes was so kind to remind me that I will learn from these mistakes and do better next time. But when it was all done I said I was never making lasagna again!! That was until Wes ate the lasagna and raved and said he wanted me to make it again. I guess those are the rewards of cooking, having loved ones tell you how much they like it.

Here is a picture of the final product. It isn't pretty and looks nothing like the picture in the recipe book, but I had to post a pic for all you who know me and think I am lying. =)

So as you can see, Martha Stewart has nothing to be worried about. I won't be taking her place in the cooking world anytime soon. But I will continue to practice.

Definitely keep practicing. I know some people say food is in the looks but I think taste is a big part of the success of a recipe.

Susan! I am very proud of you! I don't think lasagna is a pretty dish to look at no matter who makes it but it is delicious to eat. You go girl! Can't wait to hear about your next cooking adventure. BTW Ralph has eaten and continues to eat a lot of "experiments". Some are successful, other not.

my favorite part is, "Of course some things went wrong and Wes was so kind to remind me that I will learn from these mistakes and do better next time." good ole wes! i am impressed for sure! i bet it was the fact that you were talking to me while you did it that helped! if you can cook in romanian you will be a champ in the States!

Cooking?!? I'm so proud. I think I messed up lasagna the first time I made it too. And, I'm sure Martha was not perfect when she first started. She better watch out!
