My birthday was April 13 and I received the best gift. The day before, my best friend from Texas arrived in Bucharest to see me for my birthday! After a little delay with luggage arriving late, we immediatly made our way to Brasov for a girls' weekend. We went by train to see Brasov (a city a few hours north of Bucharest, coined the "Prague" of Romania) and on the way back the next day we stopped in Sinaia and had a wonderful view of the mountains. The rest of the week Wes and I showed her around Bucharest, where we worked, where we worshipped and took her to some great Romanian restuarants. The days were full and the nights even fuller. While she was was here, we decided to catch her up on one of our favorite TV shows: The Office. So every evening after a long day, we all grouped up on the couch watching office, snacking and laughing. Of course there were some intense games of power uno squezzed in there somewhere. =)
The week had to come to end sometime and we said our goodbyes. It was so good to see her and hang out again just like we were back in Texas, sort of. Here are some pictures of the fun things we did:
