Returning to the States

I (Susan) have officially been in the US for 5 days now. I arrived last Sunday evening into DFW (Dallas-Forth Worth) airport. After being greeted by my father and brother I went straight to my brother's loft in Dallas to stay for a couple of days. Of course I didn't sleep much since jet lag was hitting me pretty good. After leaving my brothers I went to Belton (central Texas) where my parents live. I can sum up the last 5 days with 3 words: shopping, reminiscing and visiting. I am overwhelmed by how randomly friendly people are to me. I forgot what "southern" hospitality was like. Random strangers will start a conversation about who-knows what and sales clerks are eager to help you find that "perfect" item. At first I wasn't sure how to react but now I have decided to embrace it and enjoy it because it will be gone when I return to Romania. I wasn't sure what re-entry to the States would be like after a year and a half but it has been very delightful. I have made several observations since returning and I hope to hold onto these even after I return to Romania.

Stay posted for postings on the rest of my trip...

Yeah!! I'm so glad you are back. Even if it is for a short visit. I can't believe you were in Dallas on Sunday and for a few days and didn't call. You know, I pass by Richard's loft every morning on my way to work. I see his windows...that is how close I am.
