Student.Go visits Romania

On Wednesday morning Wes and I said our goodbyes to the CBF Student.Go team. Nearly one week earlier they had arrived in Romania on their first international stop of 6 countries. They began their trip in Washington, DC then arrived in Romania. From Romania they will travel to Ethiopia, Uganda, New York City, Haiti and Mexico City. While visiting these countries, they will both see and participate in projects with CBF field personnel that directly connect with the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) http://www.endpoverty2015.org.

During their time in Romania they were able to engage in the ministries of Project Ruth by meeting with the school director and various teachers and learn how Project Ruth meets the MDG of achieving universal primary education. On Monday and Tuesday they coordinated a Bible Club for the kids of the Ruth School and the neighborhood. Another reason for their time in Romania is to understand more about the Roma culture and who they are. There were several opportunities for the students to meet with Roma families in their homes, asks questions about their life and culture and get a better understanding of what it means to be Roma (Gypsy).

Wes and I were blessed to be apart of this unique group. The moments together allowed for us to also learn more about the Roma culture. We are thankful that our paths crossed here in Romania and we were able to get to know each student in a more personal way. Each student brings different interests, passions and backgrounds to this experience. We ask that you continue to pray for them as they continue this 7-week journey. You can follow their trip through the CBF blog, http://cbfportal.wordpress.com.

After returning home the students will each make a proposal of what they will do in their community or on their campus to help raise awareness and advocacy for the MDGs, as well as how individuals, groups and churches can partner with CBF to help address these issues globally. This project’s purpose is to create 13 passionate advocates for the MDGs who then will exponentially increase awareness and action all over the country through the projects they start when they return to their homes and campuses.

Thank you both for your kindness to the group and our daughter, Meredith. We are looking forward to hearing about all their adventures and how her life is changed.
