Youth Excursion

This weekend we went with the youth from our church to visit abother church in Western Romania. The church in Alba Iulia invited us for a weekend of fellowship and worship. 45 people from our church arrived on Friday for lunch. Following lunch we took a tour through the city. Alba Iulia is a very historic city for Romania. In the evening we met for a mixer and then a church service. Wes preached this evening and then following the sermon was a presentation using hand signs and blacklight. I was in awe at how incredible this was.

Here is an example from youtube (though Alba Iulia church did a better job):

On Saturday this church had planned a picnic for us. We went to a wonderful piece of land, listened to music, grilled meat and played games. The weekend ended for most on Sunday at church. The youth choir from our church in Bucharest performed and then Sorin preached. The team met at 2pm to head back to Bucharest. We stayed behind with Sorin and another American, Amanda Humbert from FL, through the evening service and left on Monday morning.

We were hosted by several different families during the weekend. Our family, Marius and Sanda, was fantastic. They were a young couple, with no kids, married a year longer than us. They didn't speak much English so we had to rely on the Romanian we knew. It was super because we actually knew more than we thought and were able to have great conversations. It really boosted our confidence and they were appreciative of our effort. Sorin, Amanda and ourselves took our host families to dinner for one last meal to say thanks and goodbye.

This was one of my favorite weekends we have experienced since coming to Romania. It was special and fun. It is these memories that I will hold with me forever!

Check out our pictures on Wes' facebook page. If you don't have facebook then we can post here, by request. Thanks!

I've never seen that kind of presentation before. Amazing!
